Google Pay adds 111 more US financial institutions


How many First National Banks could there be? Turns out it's a lot. Google Pay has recently picked up five more First Nationals (and one 1st National), plus 105 more institutions across the United States.
More and more American banks are letting their customers use Google Pay — even smaller institutions like credit unions. We saw 65 more in June, and a whopping 171 in May. International support is coming slower, but it seems like the majority of US users have to have the option by now. Now if only more stores would accept contactless payments.

As 2018 comes to a close, it’s time to look at some our favorite apps of the year. While not all of these are brand new, many of them popped up onto our radar for the first time in 2018, and are definitely worth the attention. Others are some of our favorites that are still best-in-class despite having been around for some time now. We aim to do things differently at TNW, and as such you’re not going to find the recommendations you’re probably used to seeing: Gmail, Skype, Dropbox, and the like.
